POPULATION SERVED: The Library’s
service area consists of delivering services to 15705 people in 12 townships
in Roscommon and Missaukee Counties. However,
the Houghton Lake Public Library serves everyone regardless of place of
residence. The library does not
charge non-residents a fee for library services or programs. This open-door
policy has been a major piece of the Library’s service philosophy and has
been in place for more than a decade allowing everyone (seasonal residents,
tourists, and visitors) to use the library and library services.
ELIGIBILITY: Library
patrons register to use or borrow library materials and resources.
Adults must provide a driver’s license or state ID card with their
current address. Children are
registered by parent or legal guardian.
COST: All
library services and programming are free of charge except for printing,
photocopying, and any overdue fee charged on videos or DVDs returned late.
