Suppression
Spray Program

WHO PAYS
FOR THE ROSCOMMON COUNTY
SUPPRESSION PROGRAM
Roscommon County’s gypsy moth suppression program is funded by a
one-quarter mill property tax renewable assessment that was passed in August
2000 to provide gypsy moth control for the next ten years.
A one-quarter-mill is 25 cents per $1,000 of state equalized value, or $12.50 per year on a property with a taxable value of $50,000 (generally half of its market value).
Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) also may provide, as a cost share program, federal money to help off-set the counties expenses.
