The Roscommon County Board of Commissioner’s met on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 for a regular meeting.  Chairman Mead called the meeting to order at 10:30 A.M.

 

Roll Call:  Nellist, Mead, Schneider, Milburn, Souder.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

            1.         Moved by Souder, seconded by Schneider to approve the agenda as

                        presented.  On roll call:  Ayes:  Nellist, Mead, Milburn, Schneider,

                        Souder.  Nays:  None.  Motion carried.

Bill Ancel spoke in regards to appointment for Mental Health Board.

 

            2.         Moved by Milburn, seconded by Nellist to approve Audit for 2007

                        Comprehensive Annual Financial Report as presented by James

                        Anderson, CPA.  On roll call:  Ayes:  Schneider, Souder, Mead,

                        Nellist, Milburn.  Nays:  None.  Motion carried.

 

            3.         Moved by Schneider, seconded by Nellist to approve General Fund

                        Budget adjustments amending the total from $9,720,532.00 to

                        $9,687,956.00 as presented.  On roll call:  Ayes:  Souder, Milburn,

                        Mead, Nellist, Schneider.  Nays:  None.  Motion carried.

 

            4.         Moved by Schneider, seconded by Souder to approve Special Revenue

                        Fund Budget adjustments for Animal Shelter, Hazmat, Child Care

                        Garden Fund, Soldier and Sailors and Airport as presented.  On roll call:                                  Ayes:  Nellist, Mead, Milburn, Souder, Schneider.  Nays:  None.  Motion

                        carried.

 

            5.         Moved by Mead, seconded by Milburn to approve Medical Examiner

                        Services Agreement between the County of Roscommon and Dr.         

                        William H. McNamara, M.D., effective July 1, 2008 and authorize

                        Chairman, Larry D. Mead and Clerk, Ann Bonk to sign.  Ayes:  Souder,

                        Schneider, Nellist, Milburn, Mead.  Nays:  None.  Motion carried.

 

            6.         Moved by Milburn, seconded by Souder to authorize Larry D. Mead,

                        Chairman to sign a Preliminary Agreement of Sale in the amount of

                        $38,000.00 for the purchase of airport property between Roscommon

                        County as purchaser and Norma Blodgett as seller.  The County Shall

                        make a deposit of $l,000.00 to be held by seller until time of closing.

                        On roll call:  Ayes:  Schneider, Mead, Milburn, Souder, Nellist.  Nays:

                        None.  Motion carried.

 

            7.         Moved by Mead, seconded by Nellist to adopt Resolution supporting

                        the Sheriff Department’s 24 hour Road Patrol Millage as presented and

                        authorize Larry D. Mead, Chairman to sign. 

 

RESOLUTION

IN SUPPORT OF THE RENEWAL OF THE ROAD PATROL

MILLAGE

 

                        WHEREAS, emergencies can occur at anytime, day or night, that require

                        prompt response of police officers to protect life and preservation of

                        property, and;

 

                        WHEREAS, the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Department has provided

                        twenty-four hour road patrol to help provide protection and preservation of

                        property, and;

 

                        WHEREAS, the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Department twenty-four

                        hour road patrol millage is due to lapse, and;

 

                        WHEREAS,  the continuation of Roscommon County Sheriff’s Department

                        twenty-four hour road patrol would be desirous to help preserve and protect

                        life and property.

 

                        THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Roscommon County Board of

                        Commissioner’s, go on record, supporting the renewal of the Roscommon

                        County Sheriff’s Department Road Patrol Millage request.

 

                        On roll call:  Ayes:  Souder, Milburn, Schneider, Nellist, Mead.  Nays:  None.

                        Motion carried.

 

            8.         Moved by Nellist, seconded by Milburn to accept carpet proposal for Second

                        Chance Academy from Northern Flooring and Design Center in the amount

                        of $10,299.00.  On roll call:  Ayes:  Schneider, Souder, Mead, Milburn,

                        Nellist.  Nays:  None.  Motion carried.

 

Rick Meeks spoke to the board about the zebra mussels and milfoil in Higgins Lake.  There is a

free boat wash on West Higgins Lake Drive across from the State Park.

Michael Cooley, Candidate for Sheriff introduced himself and Bill Ancel, Candidate for Road

Commission introduced himself.

 

            9.         Moved by Milburn, seconded by Souder to adjourn meeting.  On roll call:  Ayes:

                        Nellist, Mead, Schneider, Milburn, Souder.  Nays:  None.  Motion carried.
