2. Moved by Mead, seconded by Souder to approve Resolution Expanding
the Membership of the Roscommon
Commissioner’s from a three member board to a five member board as
presented and authorize Chairman, Larry D. Mead to sign.
RESOLUTION TO EXPAND MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD OF
COUNTY
ROSCOMMON
WHEREAS, with the adoption of Public Act 598 of 2006 amended Public
Act 283 of 1909 to require a Board of County Road Commissioners to consist
of not less than three members, nor more than five members (MCL 224.6(1);
and
WHEREAS, the new provision applies regardless of whether the board
members are appointed or elected; and
WHEREAS, the County Board of Commissioners are authorized under
Public Act 598 of 2006 to expand the number of board members on the
road commission to four or five members; and
WHEREAS, appropriate public notices were provided and a public hearing
was held on
the Board of
and
WHEREAS, it is considered opinion of the Board of County Commissioners
of
member Board of County Road Commissioners of the County of
Roscommon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the membership of the Road
Commission Board of Roscommon County be expanded to five members;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that two additional members shall be
appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve until
that the members so appointed shall stand for election in the general election
scheduled for
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the initial term of office after January 1,
2009, for the first expanded member of the Board of County Road
Commissioners will be two years and the initial term of office after January
1, 2009 for the second expanded member of the Board of County Road
Commissioners will be four years;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall become effective
the current Board of Road Commissioners of Roscommon County.
