Whereas, emergencies can occur at anytime that require police, fire or
emergency medical services;
And Whereas when an emergency occurs the prompt response of police
officers, firefighters and
life and preservation of property;
And Whereas the safety of our police
officers,
dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained from
citizens who telephone Roscommon County Central Dispatch;
And Whereas Public Safety Dispatchers are the first and most critical
contact our citizens have with emergency services;
And Whereas Public Safety Dispatchers are the single vital link for our
police officers,
radio, providing them information and insuring their safety;
And Whereas Public Safety Dispatchers
of the
contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of
fires and treatment of patients;
And Whereas each dispatcher has exhibited compassion, understanding
and professionalism during the performance of their job in the past year;
Therefore Be It Resolved that the Board of Commissioner’s of

our County and citizens safe.

to Senate Bill 232 that would shift the cost of foster care from the State
and the Department of Human Services to the County without providing
funding to go with the mandate and authorize Chairman, Larry D. Mead to sign.
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Senate Bill (SB) 232 proposes that all foster children now
supervised by the Department of Human Services (DHS) be supervised by
private agencies, and:
WHEREAS, there is no cost to Counties when DHS supervises foster
children, and:
WHEREAS, SB 232 proposes to shift the cost of foster care supervision
to the Counties, and:
WHEREAS, SB 232 does not provide funding for this shift in costs.
NOW,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the
Board of Commissioner’s go on record in opposition of the proposed
Senate Bill 232 and copies of this Resolution be sent to Governor
Jennifer Granholm, Senator Michelle McManus and Representative Joel
Sheltrown.
