Road Closures
Due to an earthen dam break in southwestern Roscommon County, several roads are closed to traffic.  Old 27 from the Clare County line to Snowbowl Road is closed due to water from Wolf Creek rushing over the road. In addition, these roads are also closed:

  • County Road 402, a.k.a. Canoe Camp Road (west of U.S. 127) from Paddle Trail southward.
  • Wraco Road and Rollway Road from Old 27 eastward to Reserve Rd.
  • Newaygo Road and Townline Road from Waco Road south to Rollway Road.

U.S. 127 is currently open but caution is advised.

High water issues have also caused a road closure southwest of Lake St. Helen in Richfield Township. Russell Lake Road from Ash St. to Third Lake Rd. is closed to traffic.

All these roads will remain closed until all bridges and culverts can be evaluated.

Michigan Firemen’s Memorial Festival

Roscommon County is home to the only statewide memorial to Michigan’s bravest citizens—our firefighters. Each September, thousands of firefighters and their families from Michigan, surrounding states and local Canadian provinces gather at the Firefighter Memorial near Roscommon to honor their fallen heroes. Visit: and the chamber of commerce links to the right for more great festivals in Roscommon County.
